Tim Lauer

Tim Lauer is an award-winning keyboardist featured on the multi-platinum albums of some of the world’s most successful artists including Taylor Swift, The Civil Wars, Dolly Parton, Luke Bryan, Lionel Ritchie, Keith Urban, Blake Shelton and Robert Plant. He also developed and produced Billboard Magazine 2013 “Artist to Watch” Mikky Ekko. Matthew Perryman Jones, Katie Herzig, Madi Diaz, Andrew Ripp and Brett Dennen have also recently benefitted from having Tim on their records. Tim is also a member of the Americana Awards House Band along with Buddy Miller, Ry Cooder and Don Was. Whether his Hammond B-3 organ, vintage pianos, vintage synths, or accordion, Tim plays with confidence and grace, evoking the kind of musical moods that will break your heart or mend it.

Tim’s also a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a sucker for a warm chocolate chip cookie—an artist that can cut up just as easily as he can converse on a wide variety of intellectual topics. Prolific across genres, Tim’s talent has been an essential element in television, commercial and film production, including ABC’s Nashville, not to mention the soundtrack to the 2014 Academy Award winning Best Picture, 12 Years a Slave (2014) and advertisements for Coke, BMW, Target and Glade. And we have good news: When there’s any opening in his schedule, he wants to work with you.

Charlie Peacock on Tim

Even though I play keyboards on many of the projects I produce, I often choose Tim to replace me or augment what I’ve already done. I have absolute trust in his taste and musicianship. Not only does he often play just the right part the first time through, I can trust that he’s never phoning it in. He’s both an intuitive and a thinker. This boosts my confidence. I know he’s feeling it with passion and heart, and he’s weighed several options in a matter of seconds to give me just what my production needs. And, just as important, he’s a good hang and a great conversationalist! Tim is a well-known architect in creating the New Nashville Sound that’s got the whole world singing. I hope you get to work with him soon, whether remotely, or via tracking and overdubs here in Nashville.
